Honestly: typically within the hour, and always instantly when you open the app. iOS decides when background work runs based on battery, charging state, and your usage patterns. We use silent push wake-ups plus iOS background refresh — the most any app can legitimately do without hacks like holding a location permission.

Low Power Mode, a phone that hasn't been unlocked in a while, Background App Refresh disabled for the app (check Settings → General → Background App Refresh), or poor connectivity all cause iOS to defer background work. Opening the app always triggers an immediate full sync regardless.

Since iOS 18, you can grant an app access to only some contacts. Sync needs to see the whole list to work correctly — otherwise contacts outside the selection would look deleted on the other side. Fix: Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → Contacts Sync → Full Access. The app detects limited access and warns you rather than sync incorrectly.

Google limits how many API requests an app can make. In rare bursts — a first sync of a very large address book, or many users syncing at once — we can brush against that quota, and the app waits and retries automatically. Your data is safe; sync resumes by itself, usually within minutes.

Yes, if your Workspace administrator allows third-party apps to access the Google People API. If sign-in fails with an admin-restriction error, ask your admin to allow the app in the Google Admin console under Security → API controls → App access control. Personal Gmail accounts work with no setup.

The app is free: two-way sync, unlimited contacts, backups, deletion guard — everything. No subscription, no ads. Because contacts sync device-to-Google directly, our running costs are minimal, which is what makes free sustainable.

Your contacts live in your iPhone/iCloud contacts database and in your Google account. Sync happens directly between your device and Google. We cannot see your contacts — they never reach our servers, which only send anonymous wake-up pushes. Full details in the privacy policy.

If a sync would delete an unusually large share of your contacts — which usually means something went wrong upstream, like an accidental mass delete in Google — the app pauses and asks you to confirm before applying the deletions. Combined with automatic local backups, this makes it very hard to lose contacts.

Open the app → Settings → Backups, choose a snapshot (one is taken automatically before every sync that makes changes), and tap Restore. Backups are stored on your device only. Google also keeps its own 30-day undo at contacts.google.com under Trash.

Turn off sync in the app's settings, or simply delete the app — your contacts stay exactly as they are in iCloud and Google. To erase the little we hold (push token, opt-in telemetry), use Settings → Delete My Data in the app, or email us. You can also revoke the app's Google access anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
